Vocal recording is a critical process that defines the overall impression of a song. At Frottoncoreio, we focus on more than just capturing audio; our engineers work with you to understand the concept and emotional flow of your piece to guide the most effective takes. Our dedicated vocal cabin in Nagoya is designed to eliminate external noise and capture subtle nuances.

The studio setup centers around industry-standard large-diaphragm condenser microphones, ensuring a clear and dense sound. With accurate monitoring via nearfield monitors, the tonal direction can be established during the recording stage. Our engineers manage microphone placement and input levels based on the singer's specific voice characteristics to create material that is highly usable in the mixing stage.

The 4-Step Recording Process

01. Pre-session Consultation

During booking, you share the tempo, key, and intended direction of the track. Sending guide tracks or demos in advance allows us to use the studio time efficiently.

02. Setup and Sound Check

We select the microphone based on your voice and adjust the pop filter distance and angle. Several test recordings are performed to determine the optimal input level without clipping.

03. Tracking and Take Management

The engineer guides the process while recording multiple takes. We focus on phrase-by-phrase composing to ensure the final performance meets your requirements.

04. Data Verification and Delivery

We verify the integrity of the recorded material and save it in the specified format. Sessions are delivered as organized multi-tracks after the session or at a later date.

Who This Service Is For

Frottoncoreio's vocal recording is designed for clients with specific technical needs. This includes singer-songwriters and band vocalists who require professional-grade lead vocals that exceed the possibilities of home recording. It is also suitable for those looking to layer choruses and doublings to create a thick, professional sound.

Additionally, we support narrators and voice actors recording for commercials, audiobooks, or game voice-overs. Due to our location in Naka-ku, Nagoya, we work with a wide range of local creators. Since a professional engineer is always present, those with limited recording experience can approach the session with confidence.

Studio Workflow

Our studio prioritizes minimizing psychological stress for the artist. We use a clear communication system between the control room and the cabin. The engineer does not simply operate the equipment but offers suggestions on timing and expression based on the song structure to support an efficient workflow.

Take management is a core part of our process. When recording numerous takes, the engineer logs the successful parts in real-time. This ensures that the selection process is streamlined, reducing editing time after the session and allowing more focus on the creative aspects of the project.

Client Preparation

To ensure a smooth session, we ask clients to prepare the following. First, provide the backing tracks (instrumentals) in WAV format, preferably 44.1kHz/24bit or higher. Please also have lyric sheets or a structure plan available in print or digital format.

We recommend bringing drinking water to maintain vocal condition and any personal items that help you relax and perform. If you have specific reference tracks (e.g., "I want a texture similar to this song"), please inform us in advance so we can optimize the microphone choice and approach.

Deliverables and Formats

Upon completion, data is delivered in the following formats. We typically provide "dry" files—without effects—as individual tracks (multi-tracks). This allows for complete flexibility during the subsequent mixing stage.

  • WAV format (sampling rate and bit depth according to project settings)
  • Separated files for main vocals and each chorus track
  • A rough mix for confirmation purposes, if requested

Timeline and Scheduling

Following data verification on the day of recording, deliverables are generally provided within a few business days. Transfer methods include cloud storage (such as Google Drive) or export to physical media. For urgent projects, please consult with us during the booking process.

Session bookings are based on calendar availability. To secure a time slot, a 30% deposit is required. This ensures that the necessary equipment is prepared and the engineer's schedule is locked.

What Is Not Included

This service is specifically for "recording." Please note that the following are not included: advanced pitch correction (such as heavy tuning or "auto-tune" effects) and timing correction are separate editing processes. Mixing the overall song balance and mastering for final loudness are also separate services.

If you require a full production from recording to the final master, we recommend our "Mixing & Mastering" plan. We do not provide songwriting, composing services, or the procurement of external session musicians.

Pricing and VAT

Fees are calculated per hour. In addition to the base rate, Japanese consumption tax (10%) is added. For example, if a standard session is 65 EUR (incl. VAT), the breakdown is 59.09 EUR excluding tax plus 5.91 EUR in tax.

For B2B (corporate) clients, we support invoicing with a payment term of 14 days from the date of issue. Individual clients are generally expected to settle the balance on the day of the session.
